Dear Mayor and City Commissioners,
Not withstanding the recent blow to Hollywood’s redevelopment prospects precipitated by the demise of the Ocean Village Project, the Hollywood Beach Business Association (HBBA) welcomes the opportunity to invite a new hotel development project that will serve, to an even greater degree, both the benefit of the public as well as the interests of the city of Hollywood.
We hope to see a new hotel project that will fit on Hollywood’s most valuable parcel of land, meet the following five criteria.
1. Act as a catalyst for further redevelopment on the beach.
2. Fulfill its role as an economic engine for the beach as well as the greater city of Hollywood.
3. Serve as a destination site for Hollywood beach.
4. Be encouraged to incorporate a public attraction that is economically feasible.
5. Meet an iconic architectural design standard.
The HBBA further believes that timing is of the essence in regard to the city’s actions on the Johnson Street site.
Sincerely,
Debra Case, President
