April 19, 2010 - As a business based organization that is pro smart business growth with a mission to take an active part in making Hollywood Beach a safer, cleaner and more attractive place for all, we feel that we must evaluate the impact of changing the current city ordinance to allow permission for dogs on the Hollywood Broadwalk and the effects on our beach business community.

We would like to recommend that the commission appoint a committee, to be inclusive of all local stake holders, to explore and address the concerns of liability, burden of responsibility, enforcement, health regulations, permitting, and licensing of dogs or other pets, that may impact the integrity of conducting business on the Broadwalk in the future should the requested change in the ordinance take place.

Members of the Hollywood Beach Business Association are dedicated to making Hollywood Beach a destination where you’ll have fun, relax and want to come back. We want you to enjoy memorable meals at our café tables on the newly renovated Broadwalk while taking in the panoramic view of the beautiful sandy beach, the tropical palm trees and the ever changing ocean. Beach cabana rentals are available on the sand.

You will also find the 2.5 mile Broadwalk a safe place to stroll, jog or just “people watch”. There are shops and restaurants, benches and playgrounds. We have AAA certified hotels, SSL certified small motels, quaint bed & breakfasts and guest houses. You can cruise along the bicycle path or roller blade in designated areas. Bring your own bikes and blades or simply rent them here. There are many activities and festivals scheduled throughout the year. Our historic Bandshell at Johnson Street offers live music to dance under the stars every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening at 7:30p.m. Each second and forth Friday night is Broadwalk FridayFest featuring select live music from 7 – 10p.m., also at the historic Bandshell. You may even catch “Elvis” who makes periodic stops for his shows that will certainly entertain you.
